Hello everyone:
It is 4 AM and I can't sleep. I am really wound up and feeling pretty good
right now. I can't remember if I ever mentioned on TPIN that I was
recording a "light classical" CD for Summit records or not. Well, I am and
we worked into the wee hours tonight. I am hoping that this one just might
"turn a few heads" of people who had no idea that I ever played this type of
music. (Actually there are some "light jazz" tunes on it too.)
I am recording with the Ohlone Wind Orchestra. This is a wonderful wind
ensemble of mostly pros that is a night class at Ohlone College in Fremont,
California.
It is going very well and should be out later this fall.
Here is the list of tunes so far:
Trumpeter's Prayer - Tutti Camarata
Braziliance - Warren Barker (written for me)
Carnival Variations - Don Jacoby (trio - I'm playing all the parts)
Stardust - Hoagy Carmichael - Arr. Warren Barker
Dramatic Essay - Clifton Williams
Trumpeter's Lullaby - Leroy Anderson (On flugelhorn and cornet)
The Man With the Horn - Arr. Sammy Nestico
Hungarian Melodies - Vincent Bach
Vaxuosity - Phillip Field (Also written for me - duh?)
Yankee Doodle Variations - JB Arban, Arrangement Andrew Glover
Cornucopia - Jack Hayes (Originally written for Doc Severinsen)
and probably a couple more..................
