Mates,
I have an 11 month old daughter that oftentimes will not eat solids unless we have her in front of the TV with live music performance on. I discovered this one afternoon while watching PBS' recent airing of the New York Phil visits North Korea. (Phil Smith's performance on all, esp. Dvorak's "New World Symphony" and "An American in Paris", could be a TPIN topic unto itself.) She loves it! That was several months ago. And anytime we are having difficulty getting her to eat, we just put a performance in and she eats away.
Enough about my daughter. I'm looking for recommendations from the list for DVDs of symphonic music being performed live, e.g. Chicago Symph, New York Phil, et al. We are looking specifically for DVDs, since they travel well. And while I perform and listen to jazz and latin more than symphonic, she seems to have an affinity for symphonic music. So please don't send jazz, commercial, latin, etc. recommendations. (I'll expect plenty of CSO with Bud, of course.)
What say you? What are your favorites?
Thanks to all.
Rob
P.S. For all you concerned parents, we know children under two years aren't supposed to watch TV. We only let her watch if she won't eat. We figure a little TV's better than starving her to death. ;-)
