Figure out a way to work Lee Morgan into that list, and you're swingin.
Ooooops... Forgot - you gotta have Randy Brecker in there too.  (one of the
most least appreciate jazz influence of the later 20th century, in my humble
opinion).  But Lee Morgan is MANDATORY, dude!

I agree with you Mike. Top lists always generate frustration, but then
again, that is what they are meant to do, generate discussion.  So, we
interpret the lists as a Top Favorites list.  Here's a start for me:
 
1. Louis Armstrong
2. Clifford Brown
3. Bunny Berigan
4. Dizzy Gillespie(the early years)
5. Freddie Hubbard
6. Chet Baker
7. Woody Shaw
8 Bix Beiderbecke
9. Miles Davis
10.  Clark Terry
