I sure wish I could hear all of these guys under one roof!!! I envy any
of you TPINers
who will make the effort to attend at least one of these upcoming, fine
concerts!

Wow!!

I had the wonderful pleasure tonight to sit in at a big band rehearsal
with Dennis Noday
and Tony Pearsall, both splitting lead. I was so excited to meet Dennis
for the first time in my
life. It was an incredible treat to hear his beautiful sound being
carried along the section
and throughout the entire big band.

I really had a ball playing two Don Menza charts, especially 'Groovin
Hard'. That one
sent chills through me as we all played. It was as if every person had
a lead voice unto
himself.

Incredible!

This rehearsal experience tonight capped off an enjoyable stint of
touring the Ft. Lauderdale
area this past week, in search of finding great live trumpet playing.

A few days ago I also heard for the first time a live performance of
Chris LaBarbera at the
Timpano in Lauderdale, http://www.timpanochophouse.net/, where there was
a beautiful painting
of Frank on the wall behind the jazz combo. Chris had an awesome bebop
solo right after
my third shiraz. I was sitting only a few feet away and enjoyed every
second of it. I also
enjoyed hearing him sing that evening as well.

I urge any TPINer to attend a date from the Kenton Alumni Tour. I can
assure you that
your ears will find much pleasure in their trumpet sounds!!!
