Isn't it common these days to use a flugelhorn instead of a bucket mute?

I have been using a clip on bucket mute. It is not the easiest mute to
inatall.
There are also scratches on the bell where I clip on the bucket.
I am considering an in the bell bucket. If any of you uses
or knows any of the pros and cons, let me hear from you.
Thanks - Gene
