[TPIN] Lip slur firestorm

Little did I know the passion and fury surrounding lip slurs! I picked up a copy of the Lowell Little book, which seems like it will do what I want it to do.

I'm a "newbie" on this list so instead of giving everyone my .02 cents of advice, I'll knock it down to a penny:

I don't care what Philip Smith is doing to produce, in my not so humble opinion, the most beautiful trumpet sound ever. Does it matter whether he arches or curls? In the long run, if I can sound like he does, I don't care if my tongue protrudes out my nose!

That said, I wish we had this discussion group 20 years ago when I was playing and teaching a lot more than I am now. I appreciate the passion and commitment people in this group have to improving our trumpet playing.
