Hello all,
When I was in Scandanavia--don't remember which country exactly--I saw a "Maurice Andre cup mute" in a music store with the biggest cup I've ever seen. (Much bigger than the one in this video. Bigger than the bell of a trumpet. And I'm quite sure it was not for a flugelhorn.) I've not seen one since. To this day, I regret not buying that mute. Any of the listmates from Europe have any idea about these? Thanks.
Rob

After watching that brief video of Wynton, I ran across Maurice Andre playing the two Ave Marias, with harp accompaniment.

Any idea what that mute is, that he's using at the beginning. It appears to have a tiny pressure relief hole on the end, and a huge, almost plunger shaped cup that overlaps the bell, so the gap is between the mute and the edge of the bell.
Sounds great for that kind of work, and I'd love to try one, assuming it's commercially made.
