This slide has now been spoken for. I'll e-mail individuals who contacted
me offline separately. Just wanted to post that it is now gone.

Subject: [TPIN] Tuning slide needs a home
All:
I have a Bach b-flat tuning slide in my case that I had modified many years
ago to use with my Bach C. Each slide was shortened by a little over a half
inch, the water key was removed, and the hole plugged with cork. I used it
by flipping it upside down so that the longer bottom slide on the b-flat
became the longer upper slide of the C. It adds a little over a quarter
inch to the standard C slide's length, which reduces the gap between the
inside of the ferrule and the slide. The idea was to improve the feel and
resistance of the horn. When the slide is pushed all the way in, it's
actually still out a little less than a quarter inch. So, if I needed to
push in any further I was stuck, but that never seemed to be a problem. Of
course, emptying the water meant pulling the slide and putting it back in.
Hey, if the horn players can do it... <grin>
I don't recall whether the slide came from a large or ML bore b-flat horn,
but I believe it was a ML. I no longer use this slide, and it's just
flopping around in my case putting dings on my other horns because I've been
too lazy to wrap it up in something protective. Crazy, I know...
With that said, I hate having it just sitting around, so I thought I'd offer
it to anyone on TPIN who might want it. If anyone wants it, please let me
know (just e-mail me offline). You can have it for whatever it costs me to
ship it to you.
