I think I'm in a minority here, but to me (as a Pro player of 26 ++ years; I don't remember) there are no such things as a practice horn.
As long as the horn plays in tune with itself and is mechanically sound, then the instrument will do any job asked of it.
As an example, I bought a Yamaha Q Trumpet new for $300 not long ago, and whilst it's not 'quite' the standard in some ways of my other expensive so-called Pro horns, it's not far off, and does the job incredibly well. It certainly and unquestionably performs equally as well for the audience and to my peers, it's only me who notices a difference.
As I've always maintained, mouthpiece choice will make a mile of difference to the horns response, sound and playability.
Just my opinion.
All the best
