Are these the same guys that had a band called "Chops" Back in the early to
mid '80s?
A friend lent me a tape of this band and it was SMOKIN!!

But I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

Thanks
Eric

I know that Mike Spengler from this list has played her gig, but as
far as OI know he is not there. Mike? You there?

Nope. 7 years back I was a "last-minute emergency sub" for a week in LA
doing an awards show and a video just when she was starting to hit it big.
She
was using a horn section called "Chops Horns" which at the time was Dave
Watson- tnr sax, Darryl Dixon- al sax, and Fred Maxwell on trumpet. All
great
players and good guys. It was a fun week. Hard work (she likes to rehearse,
rehearse. rehearse) but I had enough free time to re-connect with some
former
band-mates out there.

Nice to hear she's still using "Chops Horns" which for the upcoming
tours will include Fred Hendrix on trumpet. Sounds like he was not the one
on the
"pre-show"- Fred's right-handed.

I've been in the section with Fred on a steady big band gig in Jersey.
He's a wonderful jazz player who's worked with Charles Tolliver, the Basie
Orchestra, and numerous others. I'm really happy for him- and, yes, just a
wee
bit envious...:-) But it's always great to see a younger & deserving great
player get one of those gigs where he can use the $$ to insure that he can
remain a full-time trumpet player after that gig passes...

(And Fred's another one who passed through Ed Treutel's basement doors
for some lessons just before he started college where his main teacher was
Dave
Rogers).
