Peter,

Not a day goes by without my offering a blessing to those, young and
old, who assembled
my horn. I feel fortunate that I have found an instrument which has
made such a nice fit
with our group.

Honestly though, my mouthpiece is worth more than the trumpet itself,
which is kind of funny.

I'll agree with you that the mouthpiece choice, with sleeves and all,
has made an incredible
'difference' for me over the past five months now. Although not very
different from any of my
former pieces, I have been using a Reeves 692SL backbore. Boy you
should hear the extra
qualities when the trumpet starts to light up in the room!

For the past three nights I have been primarily using the Audio trumpet
as the main ax for
all of my performances. The chief consideration for this has been to
blend better within the
section, again the playing amongst other student-like horns.

Without having a real knowledge about the specs and even knowing what
bore size I'm playing
on, I have been purely using my own imagination to get at the core of
the sound that is available
with this Alde Audio. Tonight I seemed to get as close as possible to
the core and also its
inherent dynamics within its range.

This trumpet's condensed, yet lively sound has not only offered a better
blend for our section, but
it has offered something more for our audio technician to work with.
For example, our AV man
can now lower or raise the trumpet levels accordingly within the group.
He can now use better
judgment when discriminating with the sound that I give him. Before, he
couldn't do much with
the levels because of the awesome projection from my primary horn, which
is a first generation
Raptor. The particular room I'm playing in now is small, like a cabaret
lounge. The small horn fits
better for the time being.

The Alde horn isn't perfect. I would like to add more to its dynamics.
This will continue to frustrate
me as time goes on. At least for now I will have something to further
shoot for, in terms of making
a future purchase, particularly for a pro-level horn.
