Although they will work satisfactorily, O-rings that you'll find in a
hardware store are not the same as the ones that are meant for instrument
slides.  The "real" ones are flat on each "end" -- they are very short
cylinders -- a cross-section would be rectangle-ish.  O-rings are like
little donuts -- a cross-section would be a circle.  I know that Dick
Akright has the real ones.  Check with Brendan to make sure, but he
probably has the "right" ones, also, not just O-rings.

  I am trying to locate a source for those little neoprene/rubber bands
  that are put on slides to make the return of a moving slide quiet. I
  have had these mostly on the third slide, but sometimes on the first
  slide, too. No matter how I search for these on Google or ebay, I

  up empty. Hopefully, some of you fine folks out there have found
  where
  these can be got, and will share with me.
  Maybe someone has figured out where to look at Home Depot or Lowes or

  plumbing supply shop or Walmart or...
