This is exactly why you should be a union member. You really have no
recourse. If this person were a union contractor and if you were a union
member, you would be making considerably more money and you wouldn't have a
problem getting paid under these circustances.

This is one of the foundations of the musicians union - you don't have to
fight by yourself and risk never working again. Collectively you and the
other members of your local have agreements that cover these situations.
