[TPIN] harmon mute and stem

While watching the Grammys, during the Rhapsody in Blue performance, I 
noticed the same thing about the wah wah feature of the harmon stem. Sounded 
like the trombone player did the same thing. That is the reason why they 
made that cup on the end of the stem, I guess. (Duh!).
I play on a Bobby Shew copper mute into a mike, and it has the stem welded 
in place so as to make it "in tune" mostly.
I had to get a regular harmon mute so I could blend when I play in section, 
and you're right, most guys play with the stem out. But you do get more 
volume with it in...
