[TPIN] Acquiring Maynard taste

At concerts when Lin was in the band, Maynard often let him take his choruses. I used to think it was for Maynard to rest his lip, until I saw him go all night without anyone other than Stan Mark to spell him and he never once got tired.
Maynard was very generous with all his players. He often let Lyn Nicholson come down to play a chorus and he always gave them a high0five, patted on the back announced their name and celebrated their skills with the audience. I wish I had had the chance to play in his band - even for a week. I asked Wayne Nauss and Rick Stepton how he treated the guys and they said he was exactly as he came across: Funny, generous, musically demanding and proud - like a father would be of his sons.
That wasn't an act when Kim would come out and hug her father when he would introduce her as his "producer."
Considering most of us stood in awe of him, it is nice to know he was a genuine human being. Of course as for playing all night without his chops getting fatigued while living around double-C, well -- maybe he wasn't all that human after all...

Re: Twofer Otis & THAT note....
Jeff,
Really????
Cool! I just assumed it was the Boss because it starts (actually slurred up
to from lower notes) after the band entrance.
If it is, I think that says something VERY cool about Maynard allowing his
Lead Players time "in the Sun"!
For this one we'd have to go to the eyewitness first hand accounts I
guess....
Things get interestinger and interestinger! :)
Best Regards,
Rick Price

I'm not positive, but I think that's Lin Biviano on that note...?
