  Triple C?  no,  but double C ..  certainly.   (Michael Haydn Tpt concerto in D Maj.)
   Listen to Brandenberg Concerto #2 for a few double As. 
  
  The specialists of the day were called "clarino" players.  The method they used to perform is described in what I *believe* was their method book at the time written by Altenburg.  "The Art of the Clarino"  (Or something close to that.)
  
   I don't believe that the trumpet was "intended" to have a range limit.   While most players seem to stop around high F,  I don't think that should be seen as an acceptable limit...  it's just the normal area that trumpet players seem to hit the end of their range.  Maybe because they think  "Well,  high F is good enough..  I'll stop building my range now."
