Do NOT use a vise or vise grips or pliers. Here's what I had to do with a
nasty one - I wrapped gaffers tape around and around and around the rim
until it was built up about a half inch bigger.
Then I did the same thing with the back bore. Then you can get a great grip
on it with some torque and separate them with your hands. Also, the rawhide
hammer taps will help in this situation too. If THAT doesn't do it, take it
to a repair man who will use some penetrating oil on it as well.
If you can't get gaffer's tape I suppose duct tape will do, but it will
leave a residue that will come off nicely with Goo Gone.
