Hi Joe,

No, gripping the mpc is more of a feeling than an actuality. To literally 
grip it you'd have to stick the whole piece between your lips and bite down. 
This might cause a slightly larger aperture than desired... :) What I'm 
talking about has to do more with creating a "pocket" in which the mpc sits. 
This allows you to maintain a consistent position with minimum movement - 
one of the keys to efficiency.

Very interesting posts.  When you talk about gripping the mouthpiece,
are you meaning to squeeze the rim with the outer white of the lip?

It would probably be beneficial to the comeback players to hear what the 
monster
players on the list have to say about their setups.
