Friends; May I recommend to you "Bel Canto Studies" edited by John
Korak from Balquhidder Music www.balquhiddermusic.com These are
very melodic studies each with 4 or 5 recommended transpositions. I
went through the entire 77 studies in each transposition (this took
about nine months). Now I am going through again and doing all of
them in their transpositions with the provided SmartMusic piano
accompaniments in each of the transpositions. Should I survive this
there are PDF files of each of the etudes notated in moving
transpositions. This is a real workout in transposition while
challenging the player to make music with very pleasing lyrical studies.
Why bother?
1) If you are an orchestral player this provides a comfortable level
of confidence for your every day requirements.
2) If you are a church player this enables you to be prepared for
wherever and whenever the organist wanders off.
3) If you are a jazz player this provides insurance for playing with
any type of group as you are comfortable in any key.
4) If you are a septuagenarian plus player (like me) this keeps your
brain very, very active.
