If you are referring to the Proper Boxes from the UK,
I have the Roy Eldridge, the Bix Beiderbecke and
several others. The notes are uneven, but the
remastering and sonic quality are pretty good. In the
case of Bix, we are talking of the first years of
electronic recording, and so for recordings made 80
years ago or more, they are pretty good.
I'd be interested in what others think about the
Proper stuff. If I had the dough, I would always buy
the Mosaic sets, but the Mosaic Bix set is more than
$100, I think. I wanted enough Bix in my collection
to remember his artistry, but didn't want to mortgage
the house.

Has anyone purchased these low-priced 4 cd sets?
Looking at their
catolog I'm finding several of interest (Louis, Bix,
Shorty Rogers, Monk, Bird, Oscar Peterson, etc),...
