Couldn't agree more. Wynton is an unbelievable player, but the body of
sound that Smithers got on the original recording was much more impressive.
I heard that Doc Severinson did the version that followed Smithers - and was
used for years, until it was replaced recently by Wynton's version. Doc's
version was better than Wynton's also - in my humble (ok, not so humble)
opinion.
