Boy, Nick, you gave me a good laugh with this one. All us "older" guys were
there! We all worked for those "others" at one point or another. At least
some of them had the sense to just stand in front of the band and be
"semi-conductors," rather than actually try to play an instrument. And of
course, many of them thought that the MOST important part of their job was
to leave the bandstand to talk to prospective new customers while the band
was playing. (Which in many cases was a blessing in disguise......)
I guess the good thing about those days, was that there was LOTS of work for
everybody.
