Is there anyone still alive and kicking who was there at that show?
I only ask because CNN had a 96 year old barber on today, who started
cutting hair in 1924 and is still going strong.
I remember a radio program from about five years ago, and I think I remember
them talking to a trumpet player who had been in the band that night.
Just wondering...

Subject: [TPIN] 70th anniversary of Benny Goodman's Carnegie Hall Concert
The Carnegie Hall Concert was January 16th, 1938.
Trumpeters featured: Harry James, Ziggy Elman, Chris Griffin -- one of
the great trumpet sections in jazz history.
Also, Buck Clayton from Basie and Cootie Williams from the Ellington
band and Bobby Hackett all had featured moments, as Goodman extended
an invitation to jazz notables for the first jazz concert ever held at
Carnegie Hall.
The concert will be presented tonight with commentary from 8-11PM EST
at www.wfcr.org.
