[TPIN] 3rd Solo part to Bugler's Holiday -- a story

Almost exactly 40 years ago as I was in the middle of my freshman year at
a pretty good music school, a world famous trumpet player who had studied
there was going to be given an honorary doctorate from the parent
university.

As a practical joke on one of the upperclass students -- who was a gifted
and hardworking trumpet player -- but who was pretty gruff, and sort of
surly, and who got along with almost none of the other brass players at
school – anyway, she was told that she would be playing the 3rd solo part
on Bugler's Holiday at the festivities along with the honoree and a
faculty member (and the top orchestra), and that she would need to have
her part memorized. Well, every trumpet player at the school at that
time (40 years ago) had the 1st part memorized, but none of us probably
had ever played, let alone memorized, the 3rd part. But it didn't make
any difference -- Bugler's Holiday was not going to be played -- it was
all a ruse.

Well, I got along with her pretty well (I had pulled a thorn out of her
paw earlier in the year), but it was still uproariously funny for a
couple of days to hear her in a practice room, after finishing an etude
or an excerpt, and with her play-it-to-the-balcony,
nail-it-with-a-sledgehammer orchestral sound, jump into ---

(rest) tu-ku tuh tuh
tuh tu-ku tuh tuh
tee-uh tee-uh
tee-uh
etc ....

Does anyone have the 2nd Solo part to Bugler's Holiday? A
Sacramento wind ensemble has programmed it for a children's concert
on Friday, but that part has gone missing. Rehearsal is tomorrow.

email of an image is best, fax can also work.

  Thanks in advance.
