[TPIN] An impromptu performance that brought me lots of joy.

  John,

Thanks for the beautiful story. I often play at a nursing home myself.
It is a joy to make music for people. Our church puts on a monthly program
after our regular worship service. We go over to the nursing home in
the afternoon and sing songs and play for the residents and have a short talk for them.
Often the kids hand out some crafts they have made for the residents.

Many residents there are living off of accumulated memories, and music
brings back those memories and lets them know they still have a place in
this world. For those who are Christians, it also encourages them in their faith.

Thanks for sharing your gift with those who can't go out to concerts anymore.
I hope when I am that age that some young musician plays for me too.

  Tim

I went to visit my mother today.
She is in a "memory" unit of a nursing home.

It was a good visit. She seemed happy. She never called me by name,
but sometimes I think she knew who I was.

After a short while, I sent my wife to my car for my cornet.
