[TPIN] Flu (gross)

There is cleanliness, there is being cautious with infection (infection
control) and there is going over the top. In the normal course of events,
the flu and cold viruses do not live outside the human body for very long,
so reinfection is not a genuine concern, unless you keep your horn at around
37C in a humid environment. Most germs will similarly not survive over
night. Many moulds will however, and various chemical reactions will go on,
regardless of temperature.
THIS is why one would clean their horn on a regular basis. Stop goop growing
and corrosion / dezincification.
Keeping your instrument clean is simply going to allow it to work as best it
can, and prolong its lifespan. Sterilising mouthpieces isn't necessary,
unless you are swapping back and forth with others. Just keep it clean, one
doesn't need to go over the top about this.
Gum problems? If you are not being overzealous in your oral hygiene, SEE
YOUR DOCTOR NOW. Go today and explain what has been going on and how long
for. The basis for this advice is that some patients with a depressed
autoimmune system present with periodontal (gum) disease. That would be
seeing the doctor TODAY. Clearly, your dental hygienist is not all that
interested in your health if they have not suggested this already.
Cheers
Andy

I always have problems during checkups with sensitive gums, and pockets
between the teeth.
