I agree with Mike on this one.  I've had my Bach Chicago C for about 6 months and love it.  The response and pitch are both a big improvement over my 229/25H.  There was an adjustment period however.  It's tough to explain, but it does blow differently than the 229/25H.  When I tried to play it like I played the old horn the sound just wasn't there.  A few days of practicing Clarke, Getchell and Glantz were all it took to find the sweet spot consistently.

I assume you are referring to the Bach Chicago C and not the Yamaha.. I
think it might just be you. We have two of them at my school and the
principal in my orchestra has one. All three play extremely well and sound
excellent. Very fast response. Pitch on them is considerably better than a
stock 229/H. I played a post-strike Chicago C at a conference and was also
impressed with it. My principal doesn't think it projects enough at the very
highest dynamic levels.
