<<So, How do I tell if it's a .470 or .468?>>

A 6X has L (large) stamped as the bore size; a 7X has LP (large-plus) as the
stamping.

The maufacturing of Benge instruments moved from Anaheim (LA Benges) to
Eastlake, Ohio, in 1983. Directly lifted from a document with which I am overly
familiar:

"When King purchased the Benge Company in 1972 they quickly moved the
production facilities to Anaheim, California, although the bell stamping of Los
Angeles remained unchanged. Also, during the King ownership, the product line was
expanded to include piccolo trumpets, flugelhorns and trombones.
In 1983, the King company decided to consolidate their manufacturing
facilities and moved production of Benge instruments to their Eastlake, Ohio
factory. In 1985 King
Musical Instruments was acquired by the C. G. Conn Ltd. of Elkhart, Indiana,
although production of Benges remained in Eastlake."

The latest LA Benge that I know of is Dave Sheetz's #42993. The are some
Benges numbered earlier than that that were made in Eastlake, but they've been
specialty instruments: #42377 (piccolo) and #42331 (flugel). Both have USA
stamped on the bell instead of Los Angeles.
