[TPIN] circular breathing

Yep.   Like I said - I don't find a "lot" of practical application - but some.

I personnally find that I sometimes do it "intuitively" in cases where I have to hold a note, softly, for a lot longer than expected.  Catch a quick breath through the nose, while continuing the airflow, in order to sustain a bit longer.   But I can only pull it off in the middle and low registers.   And I don't use it a lot.
