I'm involved in it, and attempted to post a reply to that effect earlier this week. I got a reply that stated:

RE: [TPIN] Funeral foul up / Bugles Across America
Is being held until the list moderator can review it for approval.
The reason it is being held:
Message has implicit destination
It might have been because I included a link to the Bugles Across
America website, but I'm not sure what "message has implicit
destination" means...
Anyhow, I've been involved with this group for a year now, and I
couldn't be prouder of honoring those who have given up part of their
lives in service to this country. Having never served in the military
(although both my father and grandfather did...), I feel it's the least
I can do, and I'm horrified that it's considered OK to have a recorded
version of taps, or, worse still, a DIGITAL bugle (whoever came up with
THAT awful idea??) play at a military funeral.
I realize it's not always easy to find a live bugler, but I'm betting
that even if everyone out here did one or two of these a year, we'd be
able to cover a lot of funerals....
Just my thought. If you want to know more, try googling Bugles Across America......

How many players on this list participate in the "Buglers Across
America" program? I've thought about it, but just can't muster the
extra time - between regular work, playing schedule, and family duties.

(From the time I was in 7th grade, until I graduated High School, I got
pulled from class periodically to play Taps for the VFW at funerals of
Vets in our area - anthracite coal region, PA - near Ashland,
Frackville, Pottsville... Also played Taps at a dozen different
cemetaries on every Memorial Day mornings - the guys from the VFW would
pick me up at 6:00am, we would do the rounds, ending with the local
parade, and then a final Taps at the concluding ceremony. Good
memories, good service. The stories from some of the WWI Vets - there
were many back then, in the early 1970's - were fascinating.)
