Sadly, I got this email not too long ago.  Didn't know if anyone heard. 
Here's a copy of the email.

I'm sorry to tell you that we lost Bob Florence at 1:04 this afternoon. He 
simply couldn't hold on any longer.
I saw him briefly at 11 this morning before going in for some blood tests. 
He didn't look good - clearly had gone backwards since before the tour - but 
I certainly didn't expect what happened just two hours later.
What a loss.
