That's a good question.  Of course, it's not just about bore size...it's the blow, too...
Have you ever tried a big horn that didn't sound so big or vice versa or a  big horn that blew as though it were smaller and vice versa?  Of course, we all have.
I will say that I play 2 Bb trumpets with a .470 bore...That difference you can tell for sure! lol 
 
Personally, I prefer a big free-blowing horn (if it has excellent response), but I know most people prefer more resistance.
