All I know is that the difference between a Schilke B1 (nominally a .460 bore 
with 'step' ups to .463 in the valve bows and .468 in the tuning slide bows) 
and a Schilke X3 (.463 all the way) is very clear from the first blow and even 
more clear after having played the X3 for a more extended time. The bells on 
each model are the same. I think most average players could tell the 
difference in a blind test.
