[TPIN] another place to sell musical instruments

A friend of mine has pretty much made his living off of eBay for several
years, buying and selling everything from radio-controlled planes to full-size
Corvettes. He's become disgusted with eBay's new policy changes and with PayPal
(which he claims has ripped him off), and now runs most of his stuff through
Craigslist with good luck.
I've tried moving some musical instruments on Craigslist, without luck, but
then I was trying to get a fair price and, of course, folks are looking for
bargains, especially in this economy. I'll probably try again with a discounted
price, as I did get inquiries, just no follow-ups. That's one thing that
can happen a lot on Craigslist. Another risk element is that you're on your
own -- the deal is strictly between you and the buyer or seller, so if it
doesn't go down, you have to be able to handle it.
I did find lots of trumpets back when I was just scouting to see what folks
were asking. By then I'd committed to buying new, but it was instructive.
I'm certain that there are sellers who are just getting rid of stuff from the
attic or the closets, not really knowing what they might have, and it's
possible to score big. Careful about the pig in a poke. As the advisory goes,
choose wisely.
