I played a 1B for many years and found myself fighting compressed intonation.
The high range was low and the low range was high, enough so that I would move
the tuning slide if I played long passages in either area.
>From there, I went to a Laskey 80MD which I've been using for years. There is
still some compression, but not as bad as the 1B.
